Ch 3

This chapter is called Computers in the Classroom.  I learned about how computers work and the specific parts involved within a computer. I never knew what a CPU was before reading the chapter. I learned that higher the speed the faster the CPU. I also learned that the greater the amount of RAM, the faster the computer can store and retrieve data. In this chapter I also learned many type of backups to use to retrieve information if lost or the computer crashes.

This chapter was mainly a review for me. I am pretty comfortable with computers but there are definitely times where I get frustrated and upset and my computer. I did think this chapter was interesting and important because you definitely need to know the basics of computers. Depending on the grade you teach you might be showing students their first computer and you want to know what you are talking about to help them better understand information.

I will use computers in my class as much as possible!  I can only hope that school system I work in can provide classrooms with computers or have a nice computer lab to use.

chapter 2

In this chapter it focused on designing and planning technology for enhanced instruction. I never knew about Dunn and Dunn’s research prior to this chapter. I agree that different aspect of physical space may appeal to different learning styles. This is also the first time I was introduced and learned about the DID Model. A lot of these concepts were new to me in this chapter.

This chapter was very informative for me. I am a person that needs order and I think these are good steps to use to plan lessons for students. I think it is SO important to follow these steps from the DID Model. I think the Pedagogical Cycle was the most beneficial for me to learn. I liked how they laid out available support technologies under audio, visual, and digital.

I will use this information gained from the chapter in my teaching. I can see how the steps used correctly could be very beneficial and rewarding in my future classroom. The only thing I need help on is deciding what specific technology I can use for certain lessons. I know the best way is by practicing more with certain technology and hopefully as this class continues I will learn more about specific technologies

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

This chapter introduced the means of teaching education technology. It also touched on varieties of learning and how teachers have to decide for themselves what theory is best for them. I learned about the types of theories that many researches have developed. I was introduced to the concept of environmental factors, psychological factors, personal filters, Behaviorist’s Perspective, Cognitivist’s Perspective, Constructivist’s Perspective, and cognitive Styles. I also learned the history behind educational technology and how it began in the early 1900’s and how it has progressed throughout the years.

Although I have been taught the Multiple Intelligences in other classes I really enjoyed reading about it and reviewing the parts. I think it is so important to be aware of these for your students and when you are planning lessons. I definitely think that teaching and learning work together. The more I have worked with students I can see that personal filters interfere with their learning. I think that section was very beneficial towards my learning.

I will apply much of this chapter towards my future teaching. I want to have many lessons that involve all areas of Multiple Intelligence. I want many different learning styles in my room in hope to reach all the students most comfortable and effective way to gain any information received. I will keep their personal filters, psychological, and environmental factors in mind while teaching. I know it is important to have a safe and conducive environment for learning and that is one of my goals as a future teacher to have in my classroom.
